Chris Mercer (Church Secretary)
I
was born in Wittersham near Rye on 12th January 1945, the youngest of
seven, to a loving Christian family. We moved to Tenterden in 1956.
My working career started at the age of 15 when I found employment in the building trade. I got married in 1970 to Evelyn and now have 2 children. In 1972 I started work for the Health Service and was there for over 25 years until I took early retirement in 1998. Since then I have been working as a local painter and decorator.
My wife and I were baptised in 1979 and have been members of Trinity ever since. I was made a Deacon in 1981 and am now also the Church Secretary.
Amongst my interests are meteorology, golf, snooker and gardening. I particularly enjoy reading the Bible and praying with Evelyn in our quiet times.
Peter Honeysett (Church Treasurer)
Hello I’m Peter,
Living in St Michaels I’m only half a mile from the church, where
I take an active role. I was born in Sussex and moved to Tenterden when
I was nine. I started work in the motor trade and am currently working
in the tyre industry.
I’m married to Hilary and we have two grown up children Matt and Anna. I still enjoy working with cars either restoring classics or repairing modern ones. I also enjoy motor sport, DIY and gardening. I love to travel, mostly in Europe but I have also had the privilege of seeing a small part of Africa and the USA. I enjoy good friendships with many members at Trinity and could not imagine my life without them.
Ray Oliver
Hi;
I’m Ray. I was born in Egerton near Ashford
on 21st April 1947, the fourth child in a family of six. My parents
were both Christians and each Sunday took us to Church and sought to
bring us up in the Christian way.
I went to the local village school, followed by the secondary modern in Ashford and left there at the age of 15 to take up an apprenticeship in the plumbing trade. I’ve been in the plumbing and building industry ever since.
I’m married to Freda, have three lovely children who are all married, and we now have eight super grandchildren. We celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary in March 2007.
I became a Christian in 1969 and lived in Bethersden until moving to Tenterden in 1984 and joined Trinity in 1986. In addition to my role as a Deacon I also serve as chaplain to the Ashford branch of the Gideons, of which I have been a member for several years, giving out Bibles to students in local schools.
Amongst my spare time interests are music, history, DIY, gardening, current affairs and some sports.
Although, in common with others, life has dealt some hard blows, God has always proved faithful and our needs have always been met. It’s really wonderful to belong to a Church where we can enjoy fellowship with so many good friends.

I
was born in Bethersden in 1962 and was taken to Church from a very early
age, where I was taught from the Bible and eventually at the age of 22
became a Christian.
I now live about a mile from Trinity and have attended there for the past 20 years – Trinity is very much part of my life. I met my wife, Cilla, there and we married in 1989. We now have 2 children who are both active within the Church with the music and technology.
I have been a carpenter all of my working life, which keeps me very busy. I love music and enjoy playing the guitar. I also enjoy cycling (slowly) through the lanes nearby, where I appreciate more and more the beauty of God's creation.
I have many good friends at Trinity of all ages and characters.
Trevor Weeks
Hi. I'm 43 years old and married to Lisa and we have two Teenage children.
I've been going to Church since childhood and became a Christian when I was 19 years old. A year later I was baptised in a small Pentecostal Chapel in the nearby village of Smarden.
I began attending Trinity Baptist Church in 1985, where my family and I have many good friends. We all enjoy getting involved in the various aspects of an active Church's work in the community; my keen interest is in Evangelism.
My employment for some years now has been in construction management; most of my work being local to Trinity and where I live in Tenterden.
My interests outside of work and Church include spending time with my family, reading, fishing, camping, walking and visiting places of historical interest.
