Outreach

General

At Trinity we are motivated by compassion for people and Christ’s commission for Christians to “...go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything... [He has] commanded...” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Thus, we are actively engaged in reaching out to both our local community and the wider world.

Furthermore, the apostle Paul wrote: “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.  I do all this for the sake of the gospel.”  (1 Corinthians 9:22-23)

Therefore, it seems clear to us at Trinity that Christians have a responsibility to do their utmost to communicate Christ’s message, both locally and worldwide, in a style that is appropriate to the age and context in which we live.  With this in view, we utilise state of the art multimedia technology in our presentation of Christ to the world.

Local Outreach

We engage in a range of activities, initially to build bridges, with the hope of leading people into a relationship with God through Christ.  For this purpose, as well as our website and weekly Sunday morning meetings, we regularly have a Saturday outreach hour in the town giving out literature and engaging people in conversation, take leaflets from door-to-door and run short courses on exploring the Christian faith or learning the basics for new Christians – incorporated around a meal.

We have a regular annual youth fun weekend (called ‘Madness’) as well as sports evenings at the local leisure centre.  We also put on a BBQ and open up the Church for the late night Christmas shopping fair in Tenterden, as well as holding an annual summer BBQ in the local park.  On the last Sunday of every month, we hold a meeting at West View home for the elderly in Tenterden (the leading of which, alternates between Trinity and Union Chapel, Bethersden).  We also support our local Residents’ Association.

Further to this, members try and share the Good News of Jesus with friends, neighbours and work colleagues and we are continually exploring new initiatives to reach out to our needy and dying world.
